OC interview with Halo.fr!

By Peter

Yesterday an interview with the French-speaking Halo fansite, Halo.fr, went up – and today, the English translation via their forums!

So, if you want to read, head over to Halo.fr to read the interview, in English or French!

Many thanks to Sirkan for an excellent interview. It was a real pleasure.

Love what you guys are doing with this the movie. Anyway, I got a question. Since the movie takes place in Argentina, will filming in the UK be difficult? I mean I don’t see many if any rain forests around London. Or is the setting going to be inserted using special effects?

From what I understand, the ecology and climate of Southern Argentina is not all too dissimilar to certain parts of Britain. As such, our use of Welsh terrain and chunks of British woodland, along with careful use of matte paintings, will hopefully suffice for a suspension of disbelief. :)

Hmm…. Learning something new everyday. When I read …”fighting alongside a Spartan…” in the interview transcript, I was intrigued. I thought it was just the 267th Marine Regiment fighting behind enemy lines. Why would you put the Spartan “cliche” in the film? It just seems to me that the once “rare” Spartans are every where now. Of course this is my own opinion. :]

All I will say is the presence of both the ONI and a Spartan in the film make sense in context. The Spartan that is seen in the film is already known in the Halo universe, so they are not a made up character, and there is only one in the theatre of operations. I certainly would not say that it is a cliché to have a Spartan.

Okay, I guess the word “cliche” is little too strong. But they, as in the Spartans, are in novels, are in all four of the games, and now in the first movie. Everyone that has heard of the name “HALO” has the word “Spartan” associated with it. When Halo 3: ODST was announced, I was thrilled to hear the good news because it looked at the New Mombasa incident at another point of view (just like that little clip Bungie threw out about about that other squad about ODSTs.) See, I believe in and love the untold stories of the common solider. Is your film a full length feature? .

I agree completely – the reason I have written the film the way I have is because I love the untold sides of the war – what the regular foot soldiers witnessed and had to live through. I can assure you that it is their fight, and not the fight of the Spartan, that is the concentration in Operation Chastity. :)

The film will be a full length feature, yes.

Well I’ll be tuned it to the progress you guys are making and looking forward to seeing the final thing. Good luck.
